About.

We love our dogs. With over 14,000 years of coevolution it’s no wonder we get each other. The “pack” has had a strategic alliance with the “family” for survival through generations worldwide. A human and dog collaboration linked to our shared DNA. Yes, you have more in common with your dog than you may realize. X chromosome 6, the inspiration for the MotoDog logo, is believed by some geneticists to be responsible for that tail wagging, face licking, hypersocial behavior we love about our dogs. Their friendliness and desire to seek human direction is what lead to canid domestication. Successful training is scientifically grounded in this understanding and the path to better communication between you and your dog.

Our head trainer Jill recognized this age old bond when she was just a kid. As a young entrepreneur, she started a dog walking and dog sitting business in her neighborhood. Didn’t matter whether they were big or small breeds, Jill was confident she could get the job done. Ever since then, she has been training and working with dogs of varying breeds and temperaments throughout her career. For the past decade, Jill has been involved in competitive dog sports such as agility, IGP (formally IPO/Schutzhund), obedience, tracking and dock diving. Her dog Strummer, named after the great lead singer of the Clash, was nationally ranked 2nd in AKC Agility for the boxer breed winning 3 MACH (Master of Agility Championship) titles in his career. She has traveled and competed in agility all over the United States including such prestigious events as Westminster in NYC.

Every year she participates in the Green Mountain Iron Dog Competition put on by the Vermont Police Canine Association. It's a grueling obstacle course of mud, tunnels, smoked out buildings, and often a whole lotta rain with each exhausted contestant having to carry their dog to the finish. It’s a simulation of scenarios police K9 handlers are faced with every day in real life deployments.

In recent years, Jill has been training, competing, and titling in IGP (formerly IPO/ Schutzhund). IGP is a triathlon of dogs sports involving formal obedience, tracking, and protection work. She has competed at the national level and has traveled to Europe to work with top international trainers, developing a network of accomplished mentors along the way.

In addition, she has learned and honed her skills from countless seminars, classes, lectures, and years of disciplined training. All of her knowledge and insight has gained her tremendous respect in the dog world but more importantly bettered her understanding of the unique relationship we have with our dogs.

Testimonials.

I just wanted to say thanks again for all you have done for K-Lee! She is definitely a different dog! As we discussed, she is more confident in her approach to the world yet she has not lost any of her sweetness or playfulness! That means so much to me. Your approach and patience are just what K-Lee needed (as evidenced by her obvious bonding with you in just a week !)
— Mary, owner of K-Lee

I can’t say enough how much substantial progress we have seen, from leash walking to listening to commands, to behavior, it’s really such great positive progress.
— Jen & Jeff, owner of Sammy & Fyo
Working with Jill was an incredibly fun experience! Starting over with a puppy, we wanted to build a strong foundation of basic dog obedience, and Jill’s positive approach worked really well for us. Our pup also learned some cool tricks, which made training super fun for all of us
— Betsy, owner of Allis

Sassy is doing GREAT with her off leash recall work. On the path, in the field, in the woods, even with squirrels! HUGE IMPROVEMENT!
— John & Liz, owner of Sassy
